2009 Draft Results

Jul 2, 2009

Oh man this happened a while ago but man this is disappointing. During free agency is where I'am putting this post but it is troublesome. We have a guy who we won't see for a while named Rodrigue Beaubois, and a 2nd round draft pick. Along with this man who is supposed to be very good we have Nick Calathes, and Ahmad Nivins who I don't know anything about either. Let's see what happens with these moves.

Who Should We Get?

Well the big question this offseason so far has been Jason Kidd, but with his deal lingering I thought that it would be interesting to see other potential players that are available via free agency or trade.

Shawn Marion - Yep he is now someone on the back end of his career after leaving the run and gun system in Phoenix, but with Kidd at point he could be a viable option if he is willing to take a pay cut this year. Sign and trades could also be available to bring in Marion who also has experience playing with Kidd, and is still a very quick player.

Richard Hamilton - This man is towards the back end of his career too, but with the Mavs holding onto two salary cap pieces, and Ben Gordon verbally agreeing to the Pistons I don't see why Rip can't be had for a good price. Even though Hamilton is older so is Kidd, and with Kidd, Hamilton, J-Ho, and Dirk we could have potential to be elite once again in the West.

Ron Artest - Would he sign for less in a city like Dallas? I don't think him and Dirk would get along because of the intensity Ron has, but man he would bring the toughness they need indeed. Now Dirk is a great team player so maybe it could happen, but I seriously doubt it on Ron's part. ***UPDATE*** RON ARTEST HAS VERBALLY AGREED TO THE LAKERS!!! Soooo this won't happen now lol

Trevor Ariza - With Artest on his way to LA, Ariza is the odd man out. While Ariza may be heated at the Lakers, Houston might be the place he will go to. If Ariza doesn't go to Houston, I would love to see Dallas shell out the MLE to this man who can do anything that is asked. Plus his NBA IQ was checked in LA which means he has the smarts to play with Kidd... ***UPDATE*** So it looks like Houston gets Ariza, I wonder if they will have bad blood this season.

Rudy Fernandez - I know someone is upset at the Blazers for trying to negotiate with Hedo Turkoglu ..... This is probably a very unlikely scenario but with Rudy at the 2 Dallas could have a very strong outside shooter which could cause havoc for D's.

Kirk Hinrich - The only reason Hinrich would be worth bringing here is if Kidd leaves. Maybe a signing of Kidd and a few trades to remove Kidd and bring Hinrich could be a possibility, but if we want to win now, idk.

Stephen Jackson - Captain Jack who killed us along with the other Warriors could be the odd man out in the young backcourt of Golden State. Bringing in Stephen would get us the strong SG we need when it comes to toughness and leadership, and him paired with Kidd could be what Dallas needs to bring them over into the finals.

Marcus Camby - Old, Injury Prone, Defensive presence. Yeah, we should try to get this man for the garbage we are trying to remove, and him in the middle with Kidd throwing lobs could be dangerous...

Tyson Chandler - The Kidd and lobs thing applies here also, but the one thing about having this man is he could have peaked, and he could be here longer than we need. Sure the other players are older but having Tyson here can give us a little more offense, I just don't know if he will every be healthy for a full 82.

There are other players out there and available for many different scenarios, let's hope our team makes the right more...

FREE AGENCY FRENZY!!!!!

I haven't been able to post anything in a long time but to sum it up, Kidd has an offer from Dallas, Gortat has an offer from Dallas, and Quinton Ross has generated interest by the Mavericks. Along with this Rasheed Wallace was in Dallas coincidentally, and there could be a possible interest there also. LETS GO MAVS!!!

Josh Howard has Surgery

May 25, 2009

Finally with the season over Josh Howard will go under and hopefully be fixed for a full season. On Friday J-Ho had surgeries on his left ankle, and left wrist. Now the next step is rehabbing and getting back into shape for the 09-10 season. I hope Josh get's healthy not just for the Mavs but for himself.

Key Offseason Free Agents

The Dallas Mavericks have a few key free agents for there team. Let's take a look and breakdown the situation at hand for our team.

Ryan Hollins, Nick Fazekas, Gerald Green, Jason Kidd, James Singleton, & Brandon Bass are the Free Agent's as our team tries to build for the 2009 NBA Regular Season.

Keep or Don't Keep

Nick Fazekas: Honestly I didn't know he was still on the team but his salary and everything else really don't matter. This is a good $700k coming off our books, thank god. (Don't Keep)

Gerald Green: One of the most if not the most athletic player on the Dallas Mavericks, Green proved throughout the year he has the talent, the question still is does he have the IQ? (Don't Keep)

James Singleton: This guy here is a very versatile player who was placed at Center, Power Forward, & Small Forward throughout the year. If Dallas can keep him cheap then we should bring him back. (Keep)

Brandon Bass: Throughout the year Bass was supposed to be the breakout player everyone thought he could've been after his performance the year before. His numbers didn't change much but that could've been because Carlisle was learning his players and vice versa. Bass as we all know can be explosive, and has developed a mid range shot. His aggressiveness has been questioned a few times because he is not consistent, but his value might be inflated this offseason. If big offers are not on the table for Bass we might be able to get him back for one more year cheap. (Keep)

Ryan Hollins: I don't know too many people who have stood up to Shaq like this guy, but Hollins did it and boy was it fun. Ryan Hollins has the height and just needs the weight to be more of an impact. The problem with having Hollins gain that weight could take away from his athleticism, and his shot blocking abilities. Another thing Ryan needs to develop is a post game on the offensive end. If he can do these things in the offseason he could be a dangerous young big man for the future. (Keep)

Jason Kidd: Finally we speak on the man everyone has been wondering about since we got him. Kidd is not 25 years old anymore but he really doesn't have to be. The Mavs could infuse talent through the draft or through some expiring contracts. Barea showed he was capable to back up Kidd, and Terry also serves as a PG at times if the Mavs need it. With Kidd on his last legs, I think his impact leaving the Mavericks could be pretty severe because of the leadership, and defensive mindset he brings into this team. I know at times it was not apparent, but who else did Barea, Hollins, and the other guys talk too. I'm pretty sure it was Jason..... (Keep)
